Imperium Energy is managed by two partners with over 40 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. The managing partners have explored and developed oil and gas assets, both conventional and unconventional, in many of the domestic basins in the United States.

Joe Edgar, CPL
Managing Partner
The Subsurface Partner is a Senior Petroleum Geologist with over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Mr. Cooper has studied and explored many basins in the United States, including the Permian, East Texas, Appalachian, Arkoma, Anadarko, and Black Warrior basins. He has generated drilling programs for unconventional assets in excess of 1,000 horizontal wells in organic-rich shales and tight, fractured sandstones.
Mr. Cooper earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Sam Houston State University (1998) and a Master of Science in Geology from the University of Arkansas (2001).
He has been a Petroleum Geologist and Strategic Planner for Samson Resources, Petrohawk, Southwestern Energy, and Legacy Reserves.
Mr. Edgar is an experienced Certified Professional Landman (CPL) with over 19 years of experience working various basins in the lower 48 for both large and small operators. He has managed the closing of numerous acquisitions and divestitures throughout the Arklatex and Midcon regions. He has successfully managed multiple small and large-scale leasing programs throughout the lower 48, in addition to the management of numerous exploration projects as well as mature historical fields in Texas. He is actively involved in the local Landman organizations and the AAPL, where he previously served on the Board of Directors.
Mr. Edgar earned a Bachelor of Economics from Texas A&M University (2004) and a Master of Energy Business from the University of Tulsa (2014).
